COVID-19 UPDATE
At Protea Dental Lab, we take patient safety and infection control seriously. That’s why we’ve implemented procedures that meet the highest standards of sanitization and safety.
This is especially important now that dentists are permitted once again to provide in-person care. We’re optimistic that these re-openings point in a hopeful direction for everyone, yet we proceed with great care and caution.
Workplace prevention
-
Daily screening of employees as per the guidance of The Ministry of Health to assess fitness to work.
-
Facilitating proper hand hygiene by providing access to handwashing and alcohol-based hand sanitizer at multiple prominent locations throughout the workplace. Hand hygiene to be performed as per Public Health Ontario Guidelines and posted in all applicable places.
-
Implementing physical distancing of at least 2 meters between employees.
-
Providing adequate and sufficient PPE (such as disposable masks, gloves) to all employees.
-
In addition to routine cleaning of the work environment (which includes cleaning and disinfection of surfaces), any high touch surfaces that are visibly soiled will be cleaned and disinfected immediately. Common touched surfaces (doorknobs, light switches, handrails, etc.) to be cleaned and disinfected twice a day.
-
Clear and visible signage placed at all entrances and within the workplace to remind employees and visitors to the premises about the signs and symptoms of COVID-19, and what to do if they feel unwell, and how to protect themselves.
-
Promoting online submission of work orders/scripts to ensure a safe workplace for all.
Pickup and Delivery of cases
Delivery personnel are equipped with:
-
Alcohol-based hand sanitizer to be used between pick-ups and deliveries.
-
Disinfectant wipes to clean frequently touched surfaces (e.g. Car door handles, steering wheel).
-
Instructions to follow protocol at dental offices – wherever possible, deliveries and pickups should be contactless, with items being left at the door of the client, and/or maintaining a physical distance of at least 2 meters.
-
Appropriate PPE (masks and gloves) where physical distancing or contactless picks and deliveries cannot be maintained.
Shipping and receiving of cases
-
As a precautionary measure, treat all received items as contaminated and thoroughly disinfect before proceeding
-
Dispose of all single-use materials (e.g. plastic bags). If items are reusable, properly disinfect them according to manufacturers instructions
-
Clean and disinfect the area for receiving incoming cases immediately after the decontamination of each case.
-
Properly disinfect items before sending them out. Package and label to indicate “disinfected.
If you have any questions about these new protocols, please contact us and we’ll be happy to update you however we can.
