Joseph O’Connor

Lab Manager

Joseph is a Registered Dental Technologist and has successfully managed Protea Dental Lab in Oakville since 2019. He has come a long way since the beginning of his career – both in terms of physical distance and professionally.

His story began in 1993 when he received his National Higher Diploma from the Cape Town University of Technology in South Africa. Joseph spent the next 17 years as a successful Dental Technician owning his own dental laboratory in Cape Town, until he and his family made the giant leap from South Africa to Toronto, Canada.

Since then, Joseph has expertly fulfilled roles as Department Manager and Supervisor for large prosperous dental laboratories in Toronto, Richmond Hill, and Oakville. In 2014, Joseph was able to open his first Canadian lab in Oakville, which ultimately lead him to the establishment of Protea Dental Lab at the beginning of 2019.

Joseph prides himself in his expertise as a Registered Dental Technologist, and also in the refined skills of excellent organization, time management, self-discipline and cultured entrepreneurial dexterity.

With a management background in accounting and business, Debbie has been an integral part of the Protea team from the start, and helped in making everything before that possible as well. Over the years, she has built an impressive resume in dental laboratory administration. Debbie’s genuine nature and high standard of work are admirable and she has gained a reputation for consistent quality and performance.

With their combined experience and mutual journey, Debbie and Joseph have shaped a laboratory experience that is uniquely exceptional.
